Model Secondary School for the Deaf Residence Hall

Washington, DC

The Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center at Gallaudet University selected Gaudreau, Inc. in a national design competition to design a new residence hall to house high school students attending the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD).

The primary goals for the new, 80,000 sf residence hall was to create a safe and comfortable "home-away-from-home" uniquely tailored to its deaf and hard of hearing high school student residents. The residence hall has a vibrant living and learning center with enhanced opportunities for social interaction and sense of community. The new residence hall serves as a model for the nation's deaf and hard of hearing residential schools by providing a state-of-the-art facility with infrastructure, flexibility and adequate capacity necessary to advance the continually evolving needs of MSSD's residential and academic programs.
