Gaudreau, Inc. designed this new, 24,700 sf Molecular Diagnostics, Genomics and DNA Diagnostic Laboratory for the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. The laboratory is CLIA and CAP certified and specializes in rare, inherited disorders. The lab offers a wide range of research and testing capabilities.
The overall facility includes offices, conferencing and break areas, a central server room and tech workspace for staff. The laboratories include Specimen Intake and Quality Control, DNA Isolation, RNA Isolation, Pre- and Post- PCR, Thermocyclers, Walk-in Cold Rooms, Genomic Sequencing and Amplification.
The design of the facility required sensitive mapping for the protection of the samples undergoing testing. Cross contamination of samples had to be avoided and numerous special features were put into place to control the flow of samples and maintain critical air and environmental control.
