BioLabs NC Selected as Kewaunee Scientific's Lab of the Year

Gaudreau, Inc. is pleased to announce our BioLabs NC project was selected as Kewaunee Scientific's Lab of the Year at Kewaunee's bi-annual conference.  BioLabs NC is a 40,000 sf laboratory renovation and tenant fit-out in the historic Chesterfield Building.


Matthew Wieber Passes LEED Exam

Gaudreau, Inc. is pleased to announce that Matthew Wieber has passed his Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design exam. He is now LEED AP BD+C certified.


James Sheehan is Promoted to Associate

Gaudreau, Inc. is pleased to announce the promotion of James Sheehan   to Associate. Mr. Sheehan has nearly 20 years of experience in the architecture field. During this time he has acquired well-balanced experience in the design and technical aspects of architecture, enhancing his ability to design cost-effective and functional facilities that complement their surroundings as well as respond to the Owner’s desired image and character. Jim recently completed Gallaudet University’s new residence hall for the Model Secondary School for the Deaf. He is currently serving as the Project Manager for the MPT Studio “A” renovation project.

Tyler Grimshaw is Promoted to Associate

Gaudreau, Inc. is pleased to announce the promotion of Tyler Grimshaw, RA   to Associate. Mr. Grimshaw is a registered architect with over ten years of experience. Mr. Grimshaw began his professional architectural career here at Gaudreau and has gained experience in site evaluations, feasibility studies, concept design, construction documentation and construction administration. He has recently worked on projects for Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Personal Genome Diagnostics, Anne Arundel County Public Schools and The Johns Hopkins University.

Erin Reinhart is Promoted to Associate

Gaudreau, Inc. is pleased to announce the promotion of Erin Reinhart, AIA, LEED AP BD+C  to Associate. Ms. Reinhart has nearly 20 years of architectural experience in a broad range of project types and is the LEED specialist at Gaudreau. Most recently, Erin served as the Project Manager for two of the National Institutes of Health’s largest office re-leasing projects in over 20 years. She developed the Program of Requirements which consolidated 15 different NIH agencies (2,700 NIH employees) in five separate office buildings into a 500,000 sf, two facility complex.

Richard Williams is Promoted to Senior Associate

Gaudreau, Inc. is pleased to announce the promotion of Richard Williams, AIA, LEED BD+C CDT  to Senior Associate. Mr. Williams is a registered architect with nearly 40 years of experience. Mr. Williams has extensive experience directing projects from pre-schematic planning through post-construction services.  His vast experience in the design of state-of-the-art science and high-tech laboratory facilities is a great asset to the Gaudreau team. Most recently Rich has worked on projects for Longfellow Real Estate Partners, USDA and the Nationals Institutes of Health.

Mark Dininno is Promoted to Senior Associate

Gaudreau, Inc. is pleased to announce the promotion of Mark Dininno, RA to Senior Associate. Mr. Dininno is a registered architect with 35 years of experience. Since joining Gaudreau, Inc. in 1990, Mark has been an invaluable asset to the firm’s science and high technology studio. He has been involved with many of the firm’s complex laboratory projects including projects for Lonza Biologics, Inc., the US Army Corps of Engineers and Human Genome Sciences, Inc.

H. Aaron Thoren Joins Gaudreau, Inc.

Gaudreau, Inc. is pleased to announce that H. Aaron Thoren, AIA, LEED AP has joined the firm as an Associate. Thoren has more than 30 years of experience and is a welcome addition to the Gaudreau team. Thoren will join the firm’s Educational Studio and work on the Hoffberger Science Building project for Goucher College.


Gaudreau, Inc. Wins People's Choice Award at AIA Celebrity Chef Night

Gaudreau, Inc. participated in the AIA Baltimore/BAF Foundation Celebrity Chef night and took home the coveted People's Choice Award with the winning dish of lime posset with lychees.

Celebrity Chef Night raises money for the Baltimore Architecture Foundation's scholarships and programs. This year the event raised over $5,000 for BAF scholarships for college students studying architecture. Funds also went to the Future Architects Resources/Kids in Design outreach and education programs for underserved middle and high school students to encourage career opportunities in architecture, design and construction.


Bill Gaudreau to Participate in AURP's Peer2Peer Group

Bill is an invited guest speaker for the Association of University Research Parks (AURP) Peer2Peer group presentation on Community and Placemaking.

Bill will be speaking on Gaudreau's project the Wake Innovation Quarter - a research park being developed in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Bill and the Gaudreau team has taken several old tobacco buildings that were abandoned and transformed them into a vibrant, new community  totaling over 1 million square feet.

Gaudreau, Inc. Awarded Millersville Park Project

Gaudreau, Inc. was recently awarded the Millersville Park Tennis Center project.

The Millersville Park Tennis Center is being developed as public-private partnership between Anne Arundel County and the Tennis Alliance.  The new tennis center complex will consist of an outdoor tennis park with an indoor structure for eight indoor courts and support facilities.  The outdoor tennis park will include four clay courts; twelve hard surface courts; two multi-purpose courts, sun shelters and the potential for future expansion.

Gaudreau, Inc. Promotes Esra Martin, AIA, LEED AP, to Senior Associate

Gaudreau, pleased to announce that Esra Martin, AIA, LEED AP, has been promoted to Senior Associate.

Esra joined Gaudreau, Inc. in November of 2015 and has distinguished herself with her talents on numerous new and prospective projects. Project include the Hoffberger Science Building Master Plan and Addition (in progress), the L4 Building Design Competition for Forest City, the Tribune Company Highest and Best Site Analysis, the Lonza Dining Room Renovation, and the University of Maryland Medical System/City of Havre de Grace Revitalization Masterplan. Esra's experience on mixed-use projects is contributing to new opportunities for the firm as we continue to broaden our presence in that growing market sector.

Esra has also demonstrated boundless energy and enthusiasm through our continuing education forum, tirelessly serving our client's demanding deadlines, and with input on our long-range technology integration.

Gaudreau's Director of Marketing Receives SMPS Maryland Award

Gaudreau, Inc.s Director of Marketing, Nichole McGuire, was presented with the 2016 SMPS Maryland Leadership Award for Board Member of the Year. Nichole has been an active member of SMPS Maryland since 2001 having served as the Director of several committess, as a two-term President and is currently serving as the Director of Special Events for the Chapter.

Baltimore Ravens Looking to Expand Owings Mills Training Facility

Gaudreau, Inc., in a design-build partnership with The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, is working with the Baltimore Ravens on a visioning and space planning effort to expand the Owings Mills Training Facility.

Over the years of being a successful organization the Ravens have experienced a 40% population growth to the staff.  Recently, the Ravens' pre-season training has been moved to the Owings Mills facility, which has placed an even greater demand on the campus.  The Gaudreau design team is exploring solutions during the programming and planning phase of this project to handle the team's needs for the next 8-10 years.

Gaudreau, Inc. Wins Goucher College Hoffberger Science Building Project

Goucher College recently awarded Gaudreau, Inc. a contract to provide design services for the renovation and addition of the Hoffberger Science Building.
The updated building will help support President Bowen's goal to increase the enrollment of Goucher College by 300-500 students.

525@Vine Wins Award for Excellence in Environmentally Sustainable Design

Gaudreau, Inc.'s 525@Vine project received the Award for Excellence in Environmentally Sustainable Design from AIA Baltimore. The project is an adpative reuse of a former tobacco manufacturing building into a state-of-the-art science and high technology building. The jury commented that "It is no easy task to accomplish LEED Platinum in the adaptation of a large former tobacco warehouse to a research and education facility." The jury commeded this project as a wonderful example of adaptive reuse at the highest level of sustainable recognition.

525@Vine Receives Honor Award from AIA Maryland

Gaudreau, Inc.'s 525@Vine project received an Honor Award in the Institutional Architecture category from AIA Maryland. The project is an adpative reuse of a former tobacco manufacturing building into a state-of-the-art science and high technology building. The jury commented that "This project is an authenitc and honest renovation that literally breathes new life into an outdated facility that did reparable harm to the public. This transformation from its original use to a health and wellness focused facility is a fine example of how architecture can be repurposed for a positive impact on society."

Wake Forest Biotech Place Project Receives LEED Gold Certification and Wins Numerous Awards

Formerly known as “91 Turkish” and once part of the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, the historic rehabilitation of this property transformed the northern district of the Piedmont Triangle Research Park into a vibrant research and innovation center.

The Wake Forest Biotech Place was designed to support the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s expanding research departments, technology spin-offs, and other companies interested in collaborative research activities.

The project received Gold Certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design by the US Green Building Council.

Sharon Walsh, AIA Served as Panelist on AIABaltimore Quarterly Conversation Series Event

Recently, the AIABaltimore Women in Architecture Committee hosted a session in its Quarterly Conversation Series. Sharon Walsh, AIA, from Gaudreau, Inc. along with three other respected, female architects in the area spoke to the audience on the topic of Work/Life Balance: Tales from the Trenches. The panelist shared their strategies for balancing a successful career and a fulfilling family life.

Gaudreau to Design the John G. Noppinger Jr. Commons for Calvert Hall College High School

Calvert Hall alumnus, John G. Noppinger, Jr., has given his alma mater a gift of more than $1.5 million. A portion of the donation will be used to create a new gathering space on the Towson campus designed by Gaudreau, Inc.

The Commons will adapt Calvert Hall’s current boardroom and adjacent courtyard space at the entrance of the school into an open commons area where students can study, collaborate and meet. The Commons will be a multi-purpose space for students during the day and for many different groups and meetings in the evening.

Gaudreau, Inc. has worked with Calvert Hall College High School for over 60 years.

Gaudreau, Inc. Wins Design Competition at Gallaudet University

The Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center (Clerc Center) at Gallaudet University awarded Gaudreau, Inc., in association with Dangermond Keane Architecture, a contract to design a new residence hall to house high school students attending the Model Secondary School for the Deaf.

The new building will provide 160 student beds, staff apartments, common spaces and amenities. This new residence hall will significantly enhance the campus experience for high school students who attend MSSD from across the nation. The project will embody DeafSpace principles and will be LEED Gold certified.

525@Vine Receives LEED Platinum Certification

Formerly, a warehouse for the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company in historical downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina, 525@Vine is part of a transformation of the northern district of Winston-Salem into the Wake Forest Innovation Quarter, a vibrant research center. The building was designed to support the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center's School of Public Health, along with other space available to house technology and research facilities.

The building used state-of-the-art green technology and received the distinguished Platinum rating for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) by the US Green Building Council.

WR Grace Headquarters Project Receives LEED Silver Certification

The new, 80,000 sf, three-story world headquarters building for WR Grace has a combination of uses including an 150-seat auditorium, training rooms, conference space, cafeteria and offices.

The project received LEED Certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design by the US Green Building Council.

Broadview Apartments to Undergo Phased Renovation

Gaudreau, Inc. is completing a long-range masterplan for the renovation of the Broadview Apartments located near the Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus. The phased renovation of this fourteen-story, 435,000 sf apartment building, originally built in the 1950s, will begin in 2015.

Kelly & Associates Insurance Group Moving to Sparks

Gaudreau, Inc. was selected to complete the 100,000 sf renovation and expansion of the former FILA building in Sparks, Maryland. This rural, 19-acre site will become the new corporate headquarters for the Kelly & Associates Insurance Group, who is consolidating their company into one location.

William A.L. Gaudreau to Give Session at AURP Southeast Regional Meeting

William A.L. Gaudreau, President|Principal of Gaudreau, Inc., will be attending the Southeast Regional Meeting of the Association of University Research Parks (AURP) December 4-5, 2013 in Boca Raton, Florida. While at the conference Mr. Gaudreau, along with Steve Hanssen, Vice President from Wexford Science & Technology, LLC and Brian DeWitt, Vice President from The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, will present a session on Physical Development.

Historic Mill Owner's Home and Property in Hampden to be Restored

Crittenton Place - This property was originally the home of David Carroll, the owner of the Mount Vernon Mills. It is one of only two mill owners' homes left in Hampden, constructed in several stages in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. In 1925, the building became the Florence Crittenton Home, which had been established in Baltimore in 1895. It was part of the larger, international umbrella of Florence Crittenton Mission. The Mission was founded in 1883 during the social reform movement. It established a network of 76 homes in major U.S. cities and internationally to serve prostitutes and later unwed pregnant women. This property is eligible for landmark designation for its role in the history of Baltimore's mill towns and manufacturing, the social reform movement in Baltimore and the U.S. at large through its association with Florence Crittenton Home, its association with David Carroll, and for its architecture.

Gaudreau, Inc. is working with the Maryland Historic Trust, CHAP and neighborhood groups to restore the historic house to one- and two-bedroom apartments. The grounds of the mansion will be landscaped and left open to the public. To support the reconstruction efforts of the historic mansion, 19, three-story townhomes will be built on the property. Construction is scheduled to be completed by 2015.

Hunt Valley Office Building Receives Complicated Shell Restoration

Gaudreau, Inc. was selected to complete a complicated exterior shell restoration of a building the firm originally designed in the 1990s. Originally designed for a military weapons contractor headquartered in Maryland, this 150,000 sf pre-cast building was an early example of force protection design. The building was designed with limited window openings, a secure underground parking garage and a hardened facade.

The restoration design includes the enlargement of the existing window openings by 100%, creating a strategy to cut the pre-cast panels while in a fixed vertical position, and re-branding of the building with a new entrance lobby structure. New finishes were selected for the building's public spaces and the team is providing a revitalized hardscape/landscape plan and new campus signage. The project will be completed in October 2013.

Padonia Area to Receive New Community Center

Under a design-build contract, Gaudreau, Inc. and The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company will design and build a new community center in the Cockeysville area of Baltimore County. The one-story center will have a multi-purpose gymnasium, stage, activity rooms, and support offices. The building is anticipated to receive a LEED certification of Silver and will be completed in 2014.

West Annapolis Elementary School to be Modernized

Gaudreau, Inc. is currently designing the modernization plan for the elementary school. The plan includes a new, two-story addition where an existing 1956 structure is scheduled to be demolished and a full renovation of an addition added in 1984. The design of the exterior maintains the historical appearance and residential scale of the surrounding areas and is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Opens 250,000 sf Research Center

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center celebrated their newest building with a grand opening of Wake Forest Biotech Place; the former R.J. Reynolds tobacco company factory building which houses new state-of-the-art laboratories, a 7,000 sf sky-lit atrium, and it received certification from the National Park Service as a historically significant structure. The building is owned by Wexford Science + Technology, LLC.

St. Mary's School of Annapolis to Study Elementary and Athletic Facilities Expansion

Gaudreau, Inc. will re-evaluate the masterplan the school developed in 2005 to accommodate expanded facilities for pre-school programs and new athletic field support spaces.
