Gaudreau, Inc. begins design of the new Hillsmere Elementary School replacement for Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

Hillsmere Elementary School is the latest AACPS facility to undergo an extensive study to determine how best to meet the current and future needs of the students, staff, and community. Subsequent to performing the feasibility study, Gaudreau has begun the design for the selected option, a replacement school of 67,000 sf. The school is slated to begin construction in April of 2021 with construction completion in April of 2023. The school will open in August 2023.

Rich Williams, AIA, LEED BD+C CDT is promoted to Associate Principal

Rich has more than 40 years of experience directing projects from pre-schematic planning through post-construction services. He has vast experience in state-of-the-art science and high tech laboratory facilities. In his spare time, Rich enjoys traveling to spend time with his three grandchildren who all live in different parts of the country, and planning and executing home improvement projects. He also has an extensive collection of vintage kitchenware from the 1930’s and 1940’s.

Tyler Grimshaw, RA is promoted to Senior Associate

Tyler began his architectural career at Gaudreau as an intern more than 10 years ago. He is now a licensed architect and senior associate. Tyler has strong project management experience in a variety of phases including site evaluations, feasibility studies, concept design, construction documentation and construction administration. He is a versatile architect working on a variety of project types including new construction and renovation projects for educational, life science and laboratory facilities. He still lives where he grew up in his hometown, Ellicott City, Maryland with his wife and son. When he is not at the office he enjoys staying active by running and golfing in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.

Chris Taylor, RA is promoted to Senior Associate

Chris is an accomplished project manager. with has more than 20 years of experience in both private and public sector projects. His primary experience includes hand-on team leadership in the development of design and construction documents. He has also assisted with code searches, project selections and presentation materials. Chris specializes in science and high-technology projects.

H. Aaron Thoren, AIA, LEED AP is promoted to Senior Associate

Aaron has an extensive portfolio with a wide range of project types incorporating the most appropriate systems and materials resulting in minimal value engineering. He is also a LEED Accredited Professional with a strong interest and a great deal of experience in sustainable design. Aaron is fully involved with projects from the beginning design phases to project close-out delivering the Owner’s desired vision with a keen desire to solve the inevitable obstacles that are encountered on most projects.

Euiguem Ko, AIA, LEED AP, NCIDQ is promoted to Associate

Euiguem is a project architect and interior designer with Gaudreau with more than 15 years of experience. Her background is in site evaluations, feasibility studies, concept design, interior architecture, project management, and construction documentation and administration. She has worked on a variety of projects including K-12 schools, Higher Education, Laboratory Facilities, Tenant fit-out, and commercial office projects. Along with being a registered architect, she holds a National Council for Interior Design Qualification certification (NCIDQ) and is a LEED Accredited professional. Euiguem was born in Seoul Korea and moved to the United States in 1994. She currently resides in Jessup Maryland with her son and dog KoKo.

Janet Patterson is promoted to Associate

Janet is a talented architect and project manager working on a variety of project types including new construction and renovation. She is experienced in all facets of the programming, design, and construction process. Janet has great attention to detail and produces high quality construction documents while always maintaining a focus on the client’s vision and objectives. She primarily works on commercial, sports and recreation, and science and technology projects. She has enjoyed living in Annapolis for the past 12 years with her husband and Bernese Mountain dog, Quincy. Janet has two grown sons and has had the privilege of being a volunteer sponsor parent to many midshipmen from the Naval Academy.
