United States Geological Survey Regional Headquarters Building

Baltimore, Maryland

The regional headquarters for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) is located on a three acre site in the University of Maryland Baltimore County Research Park. The building's exterior is composed of ribbed metal panels, reflective glazing, curtain wall and architectural masonry. The building design extends the occupants' philosophical tie to the streams and geological formations by natural patterns developed in the lobby, earth tone stained concrete floor and feature screen wall. This theme is carried to the exterior with a landscaped garden representing a curvilinear streambed with natural grasses, indigenous plants and rocks.
